This past Saturday, Bethany’s up-and-coming speech team won fourth place in the sectional competition at Columbia City. The tournament decided which competitors will be moving on to the state competition. Qualifiers were Rachel Schrock (‘14), who took home fifth place in both Dramatic Interpretation and Humorous Interpretation; Lena Yeakey (‘15), who earned third in International Extemporaneous Speaking and fifth in Original Oratory; Delan Schrock (‘15), winning sixth in U.S. Extemporaneous Speaking; and Kaylah Price (‘15), nabbing fourth in Prose Interpretation. The Scripted Duo team of Hanna Hochstetler (‘14) and Corey Hostetler (‘15) were second runners-up in their event. The team competes in the district tournament at Plymouth this Saturday. The top two in each event will move on to the national competition in Alabama.
