Bethany’s 2013 Junior/Senior Banquet was a major success, boasting delicious food, fashionable style, magic, and, of course, dancing.

The evening began at 7:00, as students and faculty gathered at the Old Bag Factory to begin the festivities. Many table groups and couples had already gotten together for picture-taking and mingling prior to arrival. The Old Bag Factory proved to be a fresh new venue for Banquet. Its already decorative atmosphere was spruced up with some simple additions, all built around the night’s theme, “Step into Vintage.”

After a quick introductory speech from Christine Stutzman, dinner was served. Mandarin orange salad, sour cream mashed potatoes, vegetarian lasagna, and parmesan chicken were among the dishes prepared. Fresh homemade bread was also included in the meal. In addition to these main courses, there was a vast array of desserts to choose from, including various cheesecakes and a chocolate mousse.

Following the meal, entertainment was provided by Jim Reams, a somewhat local magician and comedian. His performance was enjoyable, featuring several

members of the audience as helpers. Aaron Maust (‘14) stole the show as a volunteer for one of Reams’ card tricks, easily a highlight of the night. Wade Troyer (‘13), Stacie Park (‘13), and Jim Buller were also among those selected to help with tricks.

Banquet ended with the dance portion of the night. Students were on and off the dance floor, also spending time eating snacks, socializing, and attempting to sneak into White Pigeon’s prom down the hall. Once the DJ played the final song, Michael Jackson’s “Billy Jean,” couples began to clear out of the Bag Factory, many headed to after parties or other social events.

Bethany’s 2013 Banquet seemed to receive more acclaim than its predecessors. Students and faculty alike praised the food, venue, and activities. Overall, the event was a great success, leaving everyone in a good mood with Aha’s “Take on Me” stuck in their heads for days.
