As the school year draws to a close, many groups are wrapping things up. Among these groups are the high school choirs and orchestra, who are giving their final high school concert of the year. The concert will be held tonight in the chapel, with the orchestra beginning at 6:30 and the choirs taking the stage at 8:00.
Isaac Schertz (‘13) and Mags Dutchersmith (‘16) will set the tone with a string duet as people find their seats. The strings portion of the concert will feature a double cello concerto performed by Adam Krahn (‘14) and Lena Yeakey (‘15), as well as a viola concerto performed by Sadie Gustafson-Zook (‘13).
Th Bruin Brass will be performing two selections from the Dallas Brass collection, and the concert band will be performing two other songs, one of which is Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep.” The full orchestra will be playing a “James Bond Medley,” a special request from the seniors who remember playing it their freshman year. The Bruin Jazz band is also playing some student favorites, including the Sesame Street Theme.
The Beginning Women’s Choir will kick off the choir portion of the concert with three selections; “Prayer of St. Francis,” “Reel a’bouche,” and “Glory bound.” The Concert Choir will follow. This spring the Concert Choir will be performing a wide range of music, from Latin chamber music to African spirituals. Sadie Gustafson-Zook, Parth Patel (‘14), and Stacie Park (‘13) are featured soloists.
At the end of the choir concert, the seniors involved in both choir and orchestra will be recognized for all their hard work. They will be greatly missed next year, both for their musical talents and great personalities.
