Every year, Bethany gets new students of all ages. This year we had a healthy addition of high school students from freshmen to seniors. The seniors had two new students, Kaley and Kinza; the juniors had one, Danielle Welty; and the sophomores received three students, Joe Liu, Tingting He and Jingjing He.
Kaley Yoder transferred from Fairfield to join the Bethany community. She wanted to come after she took a tour last year during visit day and saw that ”(Bethany) had a lot of cool stuff going on.” Kaley enjoys art, especially painting, and is excited to take a psychology class. Kaley also plays several instruments including ukulele, piano, and some basic guitar. Although she knows she wants to go to college, what college and what major is still up in the air. If Kaley could have any super-human power, it would be either flying, or the ability to write papers instantly.
Kinza Yoder had a choice to come to Bethany or go to Clinton Christian. She chose Bethany and has thrown herself into school life. She is on the girls soccer team, and plans to join the Wit team. Kinza has led an interesting high school career, starting at Goshen High School for two years, then trying homeschooling for a year. Kinza plans to go to Ball State University to become a nurse. If she could have any superpower, Kinza would like to be able to fly.
Danielle Welty heard about Bethany from a friend, and decided to join us for her Junior year. Welty has some past with Bethany, since her dad is a 1984 alum. She came from Concord, and she also is engaging herself fully. Welty would like to join the softball team and perhaps join the basketball team. Welty loves to draw, but will do almost anything art related. She also loves music, although she doesn’t play an instrument. She would also like to be able to fly. After high school, Welty plans to go to college and start a career in the athletic field.
Joe Liu is a Chinese boarding student. He and his parents decided together that Bethany would be a good place to study and learn. In China, his middle school was Middle School affiliated to CCNU Chao Ya School. He came to study, but he also plays the drums and plays video games. He plans to go to college, but he doesn’t know where or what he is studying. He does not want a superpower, even if he could. Joe is a very friendly person, and is open to any conversation.
Tingting He is also a Chinese boarding student, and is here with her cousin Jingjing. She came to Bethany to explore a different teaching system and to get to know a different culture. In China, Tingting attended Hefei Shoushen Middle School with Jingjing. She plans to attend college in the US, though she doesn’t know what she wants to study. Outside of school, Tingting likes to listen to music and performs Latin dance.
Jingjing He is also new from China. She attended the same middle school as Tingting, and now is attending the same high school. She enjoys learning about a new culture and learning system. After high school, Jingjing plans to attend a university in the US. Outside of school matters, she likes to play piano or flute, and draw. She, along with Tingting, does Latin dance. Jingjing is a very outgoing person, and is willing to make friends with anyone that approaches her.
