Banquet 2014: “Ignite the Night”

Bethany’s 2014 banquet was very successful, featuring great music, food, and entertainment for the night.

This year, Banquet was held at Ignition Garage in downtown Goshen. The Garage opened their doors at 6:30, with banquet starting at 7:00. Many of the students entered in groups that took their pictures before Banquet. The decoration of the Garage seemed to fit with the theme of “Ignite the Night” having floating candles, records and also faint lighting over the stage.

Once everyone was seated, KP and John Mast gave a short introductory speech that explained what would happen as the night progressed. Dinner was then served after that with vegetarian lasagna and parmesan chicken as the main course. There was also garlic bread and a spinach salad. The desert was an assortment of miniature cookies and cupcakes catered by The Electric Brew.

After dinner, the entertainment provided was from the band Slap Bracelet. This band was composed of four musicians, two of them being Josh Weaver and Craig Mast. The band organized their performance from the 90’s classics to newer and familiar pieces. They also recognized Tim Lehman and Allan Dueck by playing songs from their graduation year. A short slide show featuring senior baby pictures followed after Slap Bracelet had finished.

The night ended with a lot of dancing with students on and off of the dance floor, rocking out to all different kinds of party music. There was also a lot of socializing happening when people were not dancing. During the dance party, The Electric Brew was kind enough to serve each guest with a complimentary drink. The choices were a Latte, Spiced Chai and Hot Chocolate. Even when people were tired of dancing, they still had a way to enjoy themselves.

In the end, this year’s Banquet had a very good turn out. Students and faculty had only positive comments to mention about the food and entertainment. With their bellies full of delicious food and wonderful heated beverages, the night ended on a high note.
