Who are the Seniors: An Underclassmen Perspective

Senior classessenior trip can usually be described in one word. For example, last year’s senior class was described as friendly. The senior class before that was described as talented. As this year’s seniors are nearing the end of their high-school careers, they have had plenty of time to make their mark in Bethany Christian’s history. So what will their title be?

Gavin Rusel (18) said that the seniors are “connected.” He said that this is because they seem to know the teachers and students more than any other class in the school. However, he does not believe the seniors are “all that.” Gavin also mentioned that the juniors are more outgoing. Lane Miller (17) said that they are “fun.” He mentioned how they are good at maintaining the friendships made during sports. Abby Rudy-Froese (18) said that the seniors made theatre, ceramics, and volleyball more fun. Jiwoo Wi (17) said that the seniors are “authoritative” (in a good way). They are a good source of help and they can be strict when they need to.

Some of the seniors’ opinions seem to match that of the underclassmen. Noah Hochstetler (15) said that the senior class is “fun” and “spontaneous,” and added that in comparison to the other classes, they are more athletic. When Trent Yoder (15) was asked how he thought the underclassmen view the seniors he said they “probably view us as loud and divided.” In the opinion of Jiwoo Wi, Trent was right. She said that in comparison to other classes, “the seniors are less cooperative.”

When asked more about the seniors, Trent Yoder said “the seniors are athletic, but they do not specialize in anything because there is a lot of switching between sports.” When asked what name he wants his class to be remembered by, Trent said “I hope we are remembered for being fun, because I think that is what our class is about.”
