Teacher’s Aid

Bethany’s family-like environment allows students to interact with teachers and other students at a more personal level. The small community helps build a special trust within teacher-student relationships. An example of this relationship  is the opportunity for a student to be teacher’s aide (T.A.) or Peer Tutor. High school upperclassmen with an extra study hall can sign up to help a teacher of their choice if they are accepted.

One example is Renae’s Geometry class. Kyle Snyder (‘16) is Renae’s T.A. and a few things he helps out with  includes grading papers, putting grades in the grade book, and printing off copies of anything she needs for class. Helping in KP’s Physical Education class is known as peer tutoring. KP enjoys having upperclassmen help out in the class. Some things a peer tutor does include joining in on the game, making sure everyone gets along and helping students when they need it. Some this year’s T.A and peer tutors are: Martin Gerig (‘16), Darienne Maust (‘16), Gavin Russell (‘18), Ian Bamberger (‘16), Abby Hochstetler (‘17), Gianella Salas (‘16), Jacob Gonsalves (‘17), Brooke Reinhardt (‘18), and Ethan Lapp (‘16).

Being a teacher’s aide helps students build character and responsibility. It also helps lead and build good relationships with younger students. This is one of the many things Bethany offers to help prepare their students for the future.
