For the second year in a row the BCHS speech team is sending a competitor to nationals this summer. This year they are sending senior, Elijah Lora, to sectionals will be hosted in Salt Lake City, Utah. Elijah Lora (‘16) says “It’s neat to get the chance to travel and compete in something that I really enjoy.” Elijah will be competing in a debate event called Congress in which students debate bills in favor or against with the ultimate goal of being on the winning vote. Often times there are 18-24 students in each “chamber” debating these bills. Coach Michael Yeakey says “I’m happy that it’s worked out for Elijah to qualify for nationals. This is quite an accomplishment, considering that he competed seriously in Congressional debate for only this season. Elijah has worked hard to earn this honor and challenge.”
Best of luck and safe travels, Elijah! Make the BCHS bruins proud!
