This year, Sightline will be posting a few articles which highlight our teachers and their lives beyond their job at Bethany. Quite a few teachers have jobs outside their regular school hours and thought it would be interesting to write features about their second jobs. We hope you enjoy getting to know a little bit more about your teachers!
Sherry Good, Bethany’s band director, also works part time as a Starbucks barista. She has been working there since May of this year for about 15 hours a week, primarily on the weekends. As a barista, she makes drinks, cleans the kiosk, takes orders, and runs the register, usually with 1 or 2 co workers. Sherry chose to have a second job for many reasons. She says that the extra income is nice, she has previous experience working as a barista in another coffee shop, it’s enjoyable to socialize with more adults, and she just generally loves Starbucks coffee! Sherry really likes making drinks perfectly for customers and getting to know them well. Her favorite type of customer is a friendly person who is not in a hurry. She enjoys chatting with them while she prepares their drink. People who are in a rush and expect the barista’s to immediately drop everything to make their drink are very frustrating, according to Sherry.
Her favorite drink to make is the hot caramel macchiato because it look like a work of art when it is done well. For seasonal drinks, her favorite to make is the Sangria Passion Tea. Her personal favorites to order for herself are the caramel brulee and the white chocolate mocha.
