Every year, thousands of Americans spend their spring breaks on warm sunny beaches. This is an especially common practice in states further north, since often times we are stuck with nasty weather and ice all the way into the month of April. Common travel locations are the warm beaches of Florida or California. Some even take a more exotic trip, cruising the sea and visiting tropical islands and countries. However, if you’re looking for a destination that’s less likely to be crowded, and very likely to be awful for your #Springbreak2k17, look no further than this list. This is the top five worst spring break locations.
*I just looked up cold and or boring places. If you are familiar with any of the places listed below, please don’t take offense. Thank you.
- Goshen, Indiana
It’s your hometown, so that make things kind of boring. Who would want to sit around at home when there’s so many things to explore? Besides the weather is dreary and the forecast is calling for clouds and highs in the 50’s. That’s not exactly nice weather for a swim. Overall, staying at home is just the worst, especially when you have to be bundled up with very little to keep you busy.
- Anywhere in Wyoming
Wyoming has the lowest population in the country. All it really has is cornfields and farmland. The towns and people are scattered, and when you hear the name of the state, fun doesn’t really come to mind. It’s chilly there, and there aren’t any nice sunny beaches or big attractions to have people flocking there this April.
- Whittier, Alaska
Whittier, Alaska is a small town that has one way in and one way out and is surrounded entirely by mountain and sea. I drove past this town the time I was in Alaska and it was spooky. After doing more research, I learned that the whole town is in one hotel. Everything is connected through tunnels so residents don’t even have to go outside. The concept seems cool, but terrifying. Being stuck in one very cold town with everything under one roof does not seem very fun. Maybe scary, but things would certainly get boring.
- A space shuttle somewhere.
Now don’t get me wrong, going to space would be super exciting (not to mention pricey) but once you’re up there how could you properly document your trip on Instagram? And once you’re there it’s not like you can get out of your spaceship and enjoy the scenery. You’d be in outer space! Talk about scary and boring.
- Antarctica
It’s no wonder this is at the top of the list. I’m sure some might find Antarctica interesting on it’s own, but it is certainly not ideal for a spring break vacation. It’s vast, and the temperatures are frigid. Even though your spring break is in April, you’d still be facing highs of about 20 degrees. You’d have to put aside your swimsuit and pack a heavy coat and winter gear instead, and what fun is that after experiencing the wild weather in Indiana? It’s not.
