It’s Halloween! Halloween is one of my favorite seasons, primarily because of candy. However, I also enjoy the spooky films that I have an excuse to watch thanks to the spooky holiday that Halloween is! Since watching scary movies on Halloween is fun, I’ve compiled a list of the top five spookiest movies to chill your blood this Halloween.
- The Nightmare Before Christmas
If you’re looking for a scary movie musical, look no further than The Nightmare Before Christmas. With terrifying animation, and a disturbing plot that involves murdering Santa Claus and ghouls taking over Christmas. The Nightmare Before Christmas is sure to keep you up at night.
- Spookley The Square Pumpkin
I saw this movie back in 2005, and boy did it give me nightmares. A little pumpkin is square instead of round like all of the other pumpkins in the patch, and he gets teased relentlessly for it. If you’re scared of bats, spiders, and relentless teasing from mean pumpkins, then this movie isn’t for you.
- It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown
This movie is a Halloween classic that is truly horrifying. What could be worse than a few young children willingly waiting in a pumpkin patch for a monstrous pumpkin ghost to appear? Not a lot. It’s so scary I’m shocked it’s still played on t.v. Does anybody ever think of the children?
- Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Wererabbit
My mom let me watch this movie when I was very small, and honestly I have no idea why. It gave me nightmares for weeks, and I refused to go anywhere near carrots or rabbits. Who in their right mind would make a horror movie about an innocent british man being turned into a very large, very scary, bunny? I have no clue. Do not watch if you don’t want your view of cute bunnies tarnished.
- Spooky Buddies
Finally, number one on this horrifying list. This movie was so scary, I couldn’t even get through the whole thing. Spooky buddies is about a few puppies, the descendants of Air Bud, who get trapped in a haunted house. It was horrifying to watch these adorable golden retriever puppies stuck in a haunted house with no hope of escape. If you don’t like to see cute creatures in unsettling situations, this movie is not for you. This movie easily beats out horror films like The Blair Witch Project for my number one. Don’t watch it alone.
*Note: This is satire. I know these movies are not scary at all. Please read and laugh. Watch some of these movies. They are quality entertainment, I swear.
