Senior Service

Every year for senior Bible, Dale assigns that we do service once a week. As with any job, there are things that people enjoy, and things that they don’t enjoy. I talked with six seniors and asked what they were doing and what they do and don’t like about their jobs.

Joel Yoder is working for Josh Weaver, helping to make his tests electronic so they’re easier to grade. He decided to help Josh because he’s enjoyed working with Josh in the past and Josh really needs the help. His favorite thing is that there is no strict time frame so he can do the work whenever. However, if any of you know Joel, he likes to procrastinate so this is also his least favorite thing about working with Josh.

Gabi Klopfenstein is working at the Boys and Girls Club, doing anything that they need to do. She wanted to work here because she wanted to try something new and she had a connection. She enjoys the work she does because the people are friendly and not too overbearing, however she doesn’t get fed.

Abby Rudy-Froese is doing her work at Anna’s Bread, washing dishes, taking recycling to Anna’s car and making coffee. She wanted to work there last summer but was too young, so she decided to help out now. Her favorite thing is the fun environment and good free food. She doesn’t like taking the recycling to the car because it’s cold outside.

Brooke Reinhardt is working at her church, Yellow Creek. She does anything that they need done, including cleaning and filling mailboxes. She chose to work here because it’s her church and it’s close to her house. She enjoys getting to see what happens behind the scenes of a church, however she doesn’t like the monotony of the work.

Kaci Yoder is doing her work at the wound clinic. She does a lot of office work. She decided to work here because she wants to be in healthcare and this is where she ended up being placed. She enjoys the funny people that work there and the free food. Her least favorite part of the job is all the paperwork because, as she said, “I’m not a very ‘paperworking’ person.”

Skylar Yoder is helping out around her moms friends house, doing housework and helping to babysit. She decided to help out here because she really needs help, dealing with her three very energetic children. She enjoys doing laundry, however she doesn’t like how loud the house is.

The class is doing a wide array of things. Some people are at school and many are working out in the community. This is a great opportunity to get to know people better and help those that need it.
