Bruin Cross Country is off to a great start! They have competed in five meets so far this year, and are improving with every race. The runners are excited for the County Clash at Oxbow park this Saturday the 8th. This meet will give our runners a chance to compete with many different schools from all around both Elkhart County and St. Joseph County. It is a very unique opportunity that the cross country team enjoys every year.
Unfortunately, the cross country team has faced some problems this season. Many of the runners have gotten sick with the illness that has seemed to float all around Bethany this school year. This has slowed some of the runners down for their early meets, but luckily our Bruins are getting healthier by the day. Another unfortunate event that the cross country team has had to deal with is Evan Brown’s injury. Currently, the senior Evan Brown has been walking on crutches, which has obviously prevented him from running. However, this leader is preparing to walk without his crutches within the next few days, and will train up to being in shape soon.
This season for cross country is sure to be a good one, despite their rough start with illness and injuries. If you want to come support the team, local meets include the County Clash at Oxbow Park this Saturday the 9th of September, our Bruin Invite at home on the 28th of September, and the Sectional meet at Oxbow on the 6th of October. Come out and support your classmates!
