Fall sports are in full swing at Bethany and girls soccer is putting in the work on and off the field. Ana King, a junior on the team, says that the team is really bonding this year. Getting together outside of practice and games has helped the team’s chemistry and overall enjoyment of the sport. The team’s captains, Kassy and Meg, voted by the players have really stepped it up as leaders. They are able to have fun but also stayed focused when it comes to game time.
Ana believes that Joel, the girls’ coach, is really getting comfortable with the team in his third year of coaching soccer at Bethany. Before the season, players had meetings with the coach to think about the season and connect with the team. She says that he is mindful about keeping the team healthy and not overworking them. Not having tryouts for the team encourages more players to join the team and creates a diverse group. Ana says that the team is good at encouraging each other but is also able to hold each other accountable on the field. One thing that the team enjoys doing together on game days is singing a song in the locker room. From the stories, it sounds very energetic and lots of fun. Good luck to the rest of the girls’ season and go out and support them at their next home game this Thursday September 13!
