The boy’s soccer team has improved so much since the beginning of the year. Boys varsity ended their season stats with eleven wins and eight losses. For the first time since 2011, they were conference champions and they also won their sectional game against Westview for the second time in a row. What a great end of the season!
Although regionals against Argos was a disappointing loss for them, they worked hard and they couldn’t be any more proud this season. Even coach Hank Willems agrees, he says “In some way, the end of the season was very good. Although we did have several injuries like concussions from our goalie Nick Yoder (‘19).” Coach Willems says that even with all the injuries, they still had a pretty good season.
But it was hard to figure out how to replace a goalie that has been a part of the team for a really long time. He adds, “Once we got healthy and figured out how to be able to replace Nick, we got about as good as we were going to get.” Even without the starting goalie, Hank and the other coaches were still pretty impressed about how the season turned out, but still felt like they could’ve done better.
