The bethany boys basketball team had a rough season. Both varsity and junior varsity teams won three hard fought games and had many hard fought loses. Evan Brown (‘19), one of the only two seniors on the team, says, “Overall the season has been a struggle, but there have also been good points within the struggle, although we are still not the best in the win loss category.” Although there have been some low points in the season, the team has been having fun together. “We had great relationships throughout the season and I think I can say this is one of the closest teams I’ve ever been on. We truly are a family, in every sense of the word… well not every sense” he says jokingly.
This Friday, the boys play Fremont in the first round of their sectionals. Keshawn Smith (’19), who died tragically in a car accident this past Saturday, will be honored at the game. Evan says that “In terms of sectionals, it’s all about honoring Keshawn’s legacy. He would want us to prepare and play for him and that is what we intend to do, win or loss.” Students, faculty, and families are encouraged to come to this special night. Let’s cheer on the Bruins this week!
