On Friday March 1st, students, family, and faculty came to the boys basketball sectional game at Fremont in support and honor of KeShawn Smith. The bleachers were filled with white and blue shirts saying, “#34 Miller” on the back or “play for KeKe”. At the game, all four teams wore warm up jerseys in honor of KeShawn. Before tipoff, the players came together in the arena and had a moment of silence followed by a short prayer before the game started. There was a huge turnout, cheering for the Bruins and for KeShawn. Anya Kauffman (‘19) says that, “One of the biggest things is just being here to heal, to be with the team as they’re going through something, supporting them.” Altogether, it was a tough game, but a meaningful one. It was a close game of the Bruins losing 39-51, ending the season for the boys. This game would be a memorable one for all who were touched by KeShawn Smith.
