Interterm 2019 Interviews

Interterm is a week-long experience in mid-March where students participate in hands-on experiences while learning their specific course. These include cultural experiences, arts, food, and volunteering in community services.

One of the courses is Civil Rights, where students go on a week long trip to the south and explore and expand their knowledge. Naomi Torres (‘20) says that she is looking forward to recognizing the places she’s never heard of and exploring civil rights. She is excited to talk to people who know about the history and expanding her knowledge about learning civil rights history.

Guitar Hero is a course where students learn how to play the guitar as beginners. Omar Gonzalez (‘20) says he is looking forward to playing music and learning to play the guitar. He says he’s excited to try something new because he’s never played an instrument before. He was really excited to have his own guitar and try out a new experience.

Film, Food, Philosophy, and Faith is a course where you watch movies and explore the meaning or understand what the theme is. Andrea Yousey (‘20) says that she is most excited about watching movies the entire week and making food most of the time. She’s looking forward to baking bread and learning about the different movies.

Habitat for Humanity is a voluntary service where the students participate in building a house for that week. Peyton Rose (‘22) says that she is looking forward to helping out the family and doing things for the community. She really likes helping people out and volunteering in services.

Fearless Frosh Experiences is a course where freshmen are doing all sorts of fun experiences such as going to SkyZone and playing paintball. Reyna King (‘22) says that she’s looking forward to having fun with her classmates and having fun overall with the people that she is surrounded by.

History of Rock and Roll is a course where students learn about the important history of rock and roll. Genesis Comadoll (‘21) says that she is looking forward to go to the history of Rock and Roll Museum and learn about different music groups and its history.

And lastly, Eating Our Culture is a course where you eat many different foods from different cultures. They experience the different kinds of food as well as eat them. Dylan Horning (‘21) says that he’s looking forward to eating food and trying new things. He’s excited to have fun with his friends and experience new things.

These students are looking forward to trying and experimenting many new things. Some of these topics may be exciting, interesting, and life changing for many people.
