Bethany Christian High School’s spring sports have been off to a great start. Boys and girls track, baseball, softball, golf, as well as the girls tennis team have been continuing to keep growing throughout the season and show improvements individually and as a team.
Golf
The boys golf team has been doing well this season so far. They started off with a rough start at their first match but have been improving since then. Their second match was at a tournament at the Caston invitational and they were second out of nine schools with a score of 414. All six players made improvements throughout in these tournaments and matches individually and will continue to keep growing as the season continues.
Tennis
The girls varsity and junior varsity tennis team also have been doing well this season. The record for the varsity team has 3 wins and 1 loss, with the junior varsity having 2 wins and 2 losses. All five matches were hard-fought matches, and each player grows and improves individually each time. All the girls are looking forward to all the other matches coming up later in the season and especially sectionals coming up later in May at Goshen.
Baseball
The boys baseball team are improving this season with a record of 2 wins and 3 losses so far. They started the season with an outstanding win of 13-0 against White Pigeon and continued to improve with their other four games as well. They are looking forward to the rest of the season as they continue to keep playing as a team.
Softball
Girls softball started off at a rough start, but are doing well as a team. Their record so far is 5 losses but are continuing to keep playing hard and improving throughout the season. At the Hanover-Horton invitational they played a hard fought game but lost 1-3. All the players are looking forward to playing at sectionals and win again this year later in May.
Track
This year, the Bethany track team has gone off to an outstanding start. Most runners improving quickly in each meet and setting new school records. The boys record with having 2 wins and 6 losses and the girls with one win and 5 losses. A new school record was set in March by Andrew Smucker, Seth Valdez, Aaron Yeakey, and Omar Gonzalez in the 4×800 relay with a time of 9:34.52. Eva Sargent getting first in almost every meet in the 100m hurdles on the girls team, Cedric Brenneman getting first in most of his relays in most of the meets, and Tristen Moore getting first in most of his high jumps on the boys team.
