While most things are going to stay the same, Bethany will have some changes next year. A couple of the faculty will be leaving, incoming freshmen will have a new set of graduation requirements, new classes will be added, and standard based grading may be tweaked.
Denise Risser and Beth Greiser are the two faculty members that will be leaving next year. Denise is the Administrative assistant while Beth is one of the two sixth grade teachers alongside Juanita Hershberger. Regrettably, I did not glean any additional information about what their future holds, but we hope they will enjoy whatever they have planned next.
Incoming Freshman will have several more graduation requirements that include a new required class called College and Careers. Not only will there be more requirements, but there will also be new classes to choose from. In fact, Peter Shetler may even be teaching a class next year.
And finally, Standard Based Grading may be changed. Not anything too major, such as changing how we grade tests, but the actual material on the tests may be different. Questions from unit 1 materials may pop up on quizzes or tests for unit 3 that have strikingly similar concepts. However, the best bit of information I received was in the form of a possibility. If the new Standard Based Grading is changed in this way, there is a possibility of getting rid of semester exams. Yes, you heard me correctly. A possibility of no more semester exams.
Now while some of these changes are set in stone, others are prone to change even more. Either way, everyone can look forward to an interesting next year at Bethany.
