To say the least, 2020 was not the best year we have experienced. There was a lot going on in the world, and it seemed like every month, something else happened that made it worse than the months before. I think we are all looking forward to a better year this year, so here are the top five things we can look forward to this 2021.
1. A Covid-19 vaccine has been developed, and although some front line workers have already gotten it, there are still a lot of people who need it. This year there will be a big focus on trying to get as many people safely vaccinated as possible in as little time as possible. Hopefully, there will also be a vaccine for those of us that are under the age of eighteen so that we can get the vaccine if we want.
a. Schools will hopefully go back to a somewhat normal schedule. Going off of the vaccine being distributed, we will hopefully get to go back to school for more than two days a week.
b. Being able to see friends and family more regularly than we had been able to in 2020. As a result of the more widespread immunity to Covid-19, we will hopefully be able to see our friends, but most importantly our family.
2. The Tokyo Olympics were supposed to be in 2020, however, they were put on pause due to the global pandemic. The hope is that they can happen in 2021 even if they will look a little different than the Olympics have looked in the past.
3. NASA will launch a new rover that will land on Mars, giving us some more insight into what other planets are like. If everything goes to plan, the launch is scheduled for February 2021.
4. Depending on where you stand politically, the inauguration of the new president, Joe Biden, is definitely a big thing to look forward to this year. The president and his team have a lot on the agenda that will benefit the country. They are focusing on making the country safer and providing the necessary funding for health care providers during this pandemic.
5. Last but certainly not least, you can expect some more awesome content to be rolled out by Sightline in this upcoming spring semester.
I hope that at least one of these things sparks a little bit of excitement in you for this upcoming year.
