Our class sponsors had to get creative with ideas for covid-safe class activities to replace the week-long senior trip to Chicago that usually takes place in the Spring. We decided to go on a ski trip to Swiss Valley on Wednesday.
The day was filled with laughter, adrenaline, good food, and time well spent with great friends. The temperature was in the high 40’s, which was not great for the snow. By the end of the day, the slopes were extremely slushy and wet. Despite the sub-par skiing conditions, we were still able to have a great time and make great memories on this trip. Some highlights of the trip were:
- Braden hit one of the jumps and fell straight on his back after some huge air time
- Obed and Timmy flew down the steepest hill (almost wiping out)
- Elizabeth Franks-North was phenomenal at snowboarding
- No severe falls or injuries
- Eating and playing games in the “Chalet” (The home-base for our class)
- Everyone just had a great time on the slopes.
Although the seniors won’t be able to have the normal senior experience of a week-long trip to Chicago with our class, the senior class sponsors are doing everything they can to make sure that we don’t get shortchanged. Some other possibilities for senior outings might include a day-trip to Chicago, going to an amusement park, and having a nature/beach day-trip later in the spring. The seniors will also take part in the Interterm opportunities along with other classes this year.
A BIG thank you to our class sponsors, Elizabeth and Aaron, for the extensive planning and creativity required to make something like this happen.
