Top 10 things you NEED to put in your college applications!!

Hey seniors, it’s about that time again! What time? College application time! Get your applications in early, and you might just get an early registration scholarship! What’s that? You’re having trouble with your applications? Well I can help out with that. They called me Captain Application back in the day! That’s because I applied to so many colleges and even got on the waiting list two whole times! So consider this a crash course from an expert to fully educate you on the process. Here are the top 10 things to include on your college applications!

  1. A cool name!

The first thing an application will ask you for is your full name. You COULD be like everyone else and put down your real name, but why not take this first opportunity to be a little more creative? Here are some fun examples!

First: Ryan                        First: Al                       First: I’m

Middle: The                   Middle: Ready       Middle: Really

Last: Extraordinary       Last: Accepted       Last: Smart

  1. An interesting age

Instead of selecting your real date of birth, why not add on a year or five? It will make you seem more wise and experienced. On the other hand, you could take off some years! A 450 on the SAT would be a lot more impressive for an 11-year-old rather than a 20-year-old high schooler.

  1. Universal appeal

When the application asks for your country of citizenship, simply say “Earth.” This will make you come off as a well-traveled and knowledgeable person. It is important to be inclusive, and what better way than this?`

  1. How much you can bench press

This is a must-have for any application if you want to knock the socks off of any admissions director. If you put down the weight you can bench press (give or take 300lbs) you will be setting yourself up as not just an academic giant, but a great physical specimen. Trust me, colleges care about both.

  1. Why your mom says you’re special

Who knows you better than your mom?

  1. Intended major? All of them.

Seriously. Select every single major that the college has to offer. This will show that you are gifted in a variety of ways and are ready to try all kinds of things!

  1. Write your own letter of recommendation

You can only get, like, 1-3 years in jail for forgery (if you get caught). Who couldn’t use a former employer that says that you’ve performed actual miracles to help their business?

  1. Marital status? Sorry, that’s too personal

It’s important to set boundaries, even with educators. If you’re uncomfortable sharing something, they should respect it.

  1. High school GPA? Sorry, that’s too personal

(see above)

  1. Why not select that you’re a veteran?

This will have a wide variety of benefits, from qualifying you for certain scholarships to making you seem more patriotic. It will show that you know how to follow instructions and work with a group. This tactic has endless benefits, unless you’re applying to a pacifist school. Then say you knew Gandhi.
