With the Girls Basketball season coming to a close, we decided to interview the senior members of the team and get a perspective on the team’s culture, season, and overall dynamics. The seniors, Julia, Kolette, Jessa, and Kiersten, all emphasized the supportive and welcoming nature of the team and the lack of drama. Julia noted, “Our team is very supportive and welcoming, and we have a very special bond this year. We’re just so caring for each other, and when someone’s going through a hard time we help pick them up.” Kolette added that “I appreciate that we’re all very close and there’s never any drama.”
The team’s coaches were also highly praised for their hard work, compassion, and understanding, as well as their ability to maintain close relationships with the players. Jessa specifically mentioned that the coaches are “very clear” about what is expected of the players and that they “actually care” for the team, which is a great indication of a positive coach-player relationship.
The team’s mindset is centered on winning sectionals and advancing, as well as striving to be 1% better every day, demonstrating a clear goal-oriented mindset and a determination to improve. The team’s motto this year is “you matter” which makes sure they take care of the little things that are important. The seniors also hope to be remembered for their leadership, kindness, and personalities, rather than just their basketball skills. This shows that they understand that being a good teammate and person is just as important as being a good player. With such a strong bond, positive mindset, and dedicated coaching, it’s no wonder the team is poised for success this season.
The girls wrapped up their regular season this Monday, and compete in sectionals next week. Good luck team and congratulations on a very successful season! Go Bruins!
