A new school year means new students. A couple of our Sightline staff interviewed a few of these new students. Not all grades get new students each year–the current Senior class for example, but this year there are a few new students in the Bethany HS.

Revision 1.1
Note from the Editor: Answers to these questions seem to have been taken in bullet-points. It looks like we need to go over how to conduct interviews :’)
Q: Where did you go to before Bethany?
Savanna Helton (10): “I went to a camp school for 2 ½ years in Fairplace, South Carolina. We would build connections with God and each other. Friends also cared when you were struggling.”
Riley Davidhizar (9): “I went to Northwood.”
Alano Kingsley (9): “I’ve been homeschooled my whole life until this year.”
Q: Are you from Goshen or did you just move schools?
Savanna (10): “I finished an online program before going to the camp. I went to the camp in the middle of 7th grade.”
Riley (9): “From Goshen.”
Alano (9): “I am from Goshen but was born in Argentina and lived there till I was about 1.”
Q: What do you enjoy about Bethany since coming?
Note from the Editor: no answer from Savanna was reported.
Riley (9): “It seems really inclusive. People were welcoming [from day one].”
Alano (9): “Playing sports. I play soccer.”
Q: Do you play a sport? What other extracurricular activities do you do?
Savanna (10): “I used to swim. I went to the divisional. [In] divisionals [there] are certain [strokes] that you make and [you have to be fast] and beat your time. I swam at Northridge and then outside of school. I’m a part of the play. I’m doing props/stage crew.”Â
Riley (9): “I play soccer. I like playing defense but I am also put wherever I am needed by the coach. “
Alano (9): “Next year I want to be in the choir. In the spring I’m planning on doing track.”
Keep an eye out for another interview of these students at the beginning of Semester 2!
